Doubble Standard

PARKLAND, Wash. — One of four police officers killed in an ambush at a coffee house Sunday fought with the gunman and may have wounded him before the officer died just outside the doorway, a sheriff's spokesman said.
Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer told reporters that investigators were asking area medical providers to report any people wounded by gunshots.
"Troyer said investigators believe two of the officers were shot dead while sitting in the shop, and a third was killed after standing up. The fourth apparently struggled with the gunman out the doorway and "gave up a good fight," getting off a few shots before he was either shot there or succumbed to earlier wounds."

This ariticle was relevent to me becaust the guy obviously commited a horrible act. But the media is not calling him a "terrorist". So what is terrorism? If the suspect name was Muhammad or Ahmad without a doubt it would have been blown up and the media would have made sure he was known as a "terrorist". I just hate that doubble standard if someone does something wrong no matter race or gender let them be criminals. But if someone does a criminal act and their Muslim them automaticly they a deemed to be a terrorist.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/29/lugar-lets-put-health-car_n_373019.html

In this article Obama and his closets friends talk about putting health care on the side and worry about the war and the money. The Rhode Island Democrat said that they should not put health car aside because people pay for health care when they work.So now the big debate is to com up with a solution if they should talk about health care, war and the whole money situation.

Huckabee unsure about another presidential bid

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/11/29/huckabee-unsure-about-another-presidential-bid/#more-79536

Summary

This blog is about how Huckabee is saying that he don't know if he really want to run in the 2012 election, but he will make his decision in the 2010 midterm election. He said its a will be hard for anyway in the election because of who he is running up aganist. Also he said he really don't want to so it because he has a job that he really likes, but he really don't want to do it though.

My comment

When I read this blog I felt like he was being pressured by someone to run in the upcoming 2012 election. I feel like if he know that it will be hard to run against Obama then he should not try. I know if I was him nobody could ever be able to persuade me into something that I know for a fact that I have no real chance of winning. Trying is what they say is a good thing for yu to do but if I know my chances are slim to nothing then I wouldn't want to set myself up for failure.

White HousParty Crasher

As you may have heard by now, the Obamas’ first state dinner the other night was party-crashed by Michaele and Tareq Salahi, two uninvited guests who managed to sneak in, get their pictures taken with heavy-hitting politicos including Joe Biden and Rahm Emmanuel, and then immediately post the evidence to Facebook

Democrats may suffer if they fail to pass health care legislation: Poll

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/23/democrats-may-suffer-if-t_n_367718.html

If democrats don't pass the health care reform legislation that may take a hit in the poll booth. Polls have found that democrats will lose their edge in the congressional ballot. In order for democrats to keep the upper hand they need to pass the health care reform bill.

Who said big wasn't beautiful?

in LIMA, Peru a gang of people are accused of killing people for their fat. gross i know. 3 people were arrested and told the police how the process was done and why they were doing it. they kill the people and use thier fat for beauty purposes! even though medical experts believe it's untrue that there is an international black market for human fat, though it does have cosmetic applications . still yet we should be afraid! why would anyone want someone else's fat? all i have to say is, if you're voulumpshious and fatty, saty AWAY from the remote Peruvian jungle!

obama's holiday ?

Aside from taking a moment to wish the Obamas a "happy and joyous holiday season," FOX News's Major Garrett cut right to the chase in his interview with President Obama in Beijing.

Garrett made it clear from the get-go that the interview would have a "lightning round nature" to it. Covering everything from jobs to Guantanamo to Middle East relations, Garrett's questions focused largely on deadlines and were geared more toward "yes" or "no" answers.

When Garrett asked whether the proposed, 2010 jobs bill would raise the deficit, Obama meandered in his response, giving too layered an answer for Garrett, who had asked the President to "indulge yourself, if you will, in short answers."

Garrett quickly reeled him back in: "Does it raise the deficit or does it not?" Obama responded: "We haven't seen that, and that's part of a reason why I think we want to take a look at the summit."

Garrett grilled the President on his commitment to meeting deadlines, on everything from health care to the South Korea trade agreement. When asked about whether he was disappointed to miss his Guantanamo deadline, Obama acknowledged that, "as usual in Washington, things move slower than I anticipated."

On health care, Garrett focused on the Stupak language in the bill, which has to do with whether federal funds should cover abortions, and has been a source of recent debate. Garrett asked: "Will you sign legislation on Health Care that includes the Stupak language?"

Fort Hood Shooting

Is The Army Corp To Blame?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/18/judge-hurricane-katrina-f_n_363218.html

My blog is about how a federal judge awarded $720,000 dollars to six residents and one business owner who blame the Army Corp for the flooding of New Orleans(Hurricane Katrina). The reason why this is not a really good thing is because it can hurt the government in the long run. It will open the door for more people to sue the government for the damages of Hurricane Katrina. Which will cost billions! I don't think it's right because people are blaming the Army Corp for not preventing a natural disaster that was going to happen. I believe people are being greedy, and looking for a way out. They're just looking for a easy way out. Seriously this happened three years ago, get over yourselves.

At 2,074 pages and $849 billion, Senate health bill arrives

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/11/19/health.care.bill/index.html

Senate Majority leader Harry Reid unveiled a health care bill that would expand  the insurance coverage to like 30 million more Americans at a costs estimated to be like $849 billion in over 10 years. This bill eliminates funding from the government for abortions; so it wont cover abortions.

Health Care Funding

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/11/18/cmpi-front-group/

The resistance to reforming our nation’s healthcare system has been fueled by entrenched corporate interests. Their deep pockets are funneling money into generating attack ads, funding lawmakers’ campaigns, and hiring lobbyists. These corporate interests are also funding various front groups to make up their own facts and scare the public.

I find that it was kind of selfish for other corporates to be fueled by the health care system.  There are many people need that the health care system and what the government is doing make it not happening.

A 12 year boy name Benjamin  was born with no arm under his right elbow. Benjamin's family happens to live in Michigan, one of 33 states where insurance companies are allowed to set annual and lifetime caps on prosthetic coverage. In his 12 years Benjamin had seven prosthetic, which mean his time was up. I feel as though you should not put a cap on insurance for kids in his condition. How do you feel about??????????

Sarah Palin' Response to the people's magazine.

This blog is about Sarah Palin  being  interviewed by the peoples magazine yesterday she was asked that if she was to work in the white house what job would she want. her response was that she would like to be chief of staff because she would like to start appointing people who would see what the  america needs are to get the economy back on the right tract and to better the nation.

Benjamin French was born with his right arm missing below the elbow. In his 12 years, he has been fitted with seven prostheses. His most recent replacement will cost nearly $30,000 and his doctor says he will soon grow out of it.

But, according to his insurance company, the boy is ineligible for further coverage of prosthetic devices because he has already spent his lifetime maximum benefit.

Is this fair?

President Obama meet half brother in China

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/11/18/obama.half.brother/index.html

They talk about his half brother book about his father being a very abusive father and husband to there mother.Mark Obama was so upset that he could not do anything to help his mother during those times thats why he made a book about his life and how its was when he was young and what they have to go through.

Gay Married Couples Suing The Government Over DOMA

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/17/gay-married-couples-suing_n_361118.html

Seven gay couples and three widowers (all married in Massachusetts) brought on a lawsuit towards the government over a federal law that doesn't recognize same-sex unions. The law is called the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) that violates the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution because it denies them access to federal benefits given to other married couples.
The U.S. Department of Justice motioned to dismiss the lawsuit.

I think the government is being unfair and that the DOMA does indeed violate the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution. It doesn't  give gay couples the same benefits it gives straight couples. I don't think its fair that the government is submitting new laws that violates other laws.

Controversy over Terrorist Trial

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/11/18/eric_holders_grave_mistake_99197.html

This article is critical of Attorney General Eric Holder's decision to try one of the suspected leaders of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City in a civilian court.

The interesting part of the article is when it talks about how it is NOT a violation of the Constitution to not give this guy a trial as an American citizen would. Why? Because the Constitution applies only to US citizens!! As an "enemy combatant" this suspected terrorist could be tried by the military instead of a civilian court. Remember: the Constitution only fully protects US citizens.

Should the guy be tried in New York City? Some say he should because it will show the world how fair of a justice system we have. Others say it is a mistake because he will use the trial as a forum for propaganda of his ideas. Interesting debate. I'm not sure where I fall on this issue.

Business Groups Oppose Emergency H1N1 Paid Sick Leave

www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/17/business-groups-oppose-em_n_360831.html

Business workers are coming into work sick because they aren't getting paid during off time from the N1H1 virus. Chairmen George MIller is trying to pull an emergency bill that will allow employers with more than 15 employees to provide up to at least 5 days of leave with pay. Although the bill may help many work places, it expires in 2 years and it is only avaliable to employees with "flu like symptoms" and the final decision is still left up to the employer.

I feel that the bill should be extended because nobody knows how long the N1H1 virus will be around and if it lasts for more than 2 years, then all businesses could be at risk of contaminating everyone in the work place.

Hillary Clinton makes surprise visit to Afghanistan

Hillary Clinton went to Kabul Wednesday in a surprise of the inauguration of President Hamid Karzai. Clinton went straight into a meeting with U.S. Ambassador Karl Eikenberry and Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, before having dinner with Karzai.

Richmond Gang Rape Prompts City's Reflection

A friend invited a 16-year-old girl to join them, and she started drinking hard liquor, too. Soon another group of young men came over.

The ingredients for tragedy all were present, experts say. A bunch of men. A vulnerable young woman. Alcohol.

What happened next, authorities say, degenerated into a two-hour-long gang rape by as many as 10 males. Another 20 people allegedly watched as the victim was assaulted, beaten bloody and robbed of her jewelry but they did not stop it or call police.

The incident late last month led to six arrests, captured nationwide headlines and put this community of 103,000 on the eastern San Francisco Bay shoreline through spasms of self examination. Hundreds attended support rallies for the victim.

My thought about Obama bow down to the Japanese emperor was a sign of respect.  When you visiting a country and you visit the monarch, we must show our respects by bowing down since he is the ruler of his country.  Think about it, what if the situation was vice-versa.
OBAMA ROCKS OUT LOUD
President Barack Obama met with Chinese President Hu Jintao in a in Beijing today as part of Obama's three day tour of China and eight day tour of Asia. The two leaders reportedly discussed sensitive economic issues including the dollar yuan exchange rate trade and tariffs, and U.S. fiscal policy, and North Korea and Iran. But Hu and Obama made only general comments to the press, and did not elaborate on any agreements or disagreements. But I can only imagine with the technologies China has it has to be something pretty interesting. The President also bowed to the Chinese President. I don't think that is is that big of a deal i feel like it was completely out of resepct. But when your a giant like our beloved President Obama everyone is looking for imperfections and I think it is way to hyped.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/11/obama-wow-bow-akihito-.html

While Obama is on his tour of Asia, he made a political gaffe by bowing to the Emperor of Japan.  A few months earlier he did the same to the Saudi King.  Some argue he is respecting culture, but most of the critiques are saying that Obama as the Head of State of the US should never bow (showing subservience) to another head of state.  The fact the Emperor is the son of Emperor Hirohito who issued the attack on Pearl Harbor makes this a bit hard to take for many Americans.  Obama should have stuck to a handshake on this one in my opinion.  He also should have known how this was going to go over, just setting him up for criticism.
http://wonkette.com/412254/failed-wingnut-loser-unconcedes-ny-23-race

This article talks about the Special Election in upstate New York that was one of the centers of attention during election night.  The conservative candidate lost, but because absentee ballots have gone his way a bit, he has "unconceded" the race, basically saying he is not accepting that he lost anymore.  The blogpost argues that Glenn Beck (a conservative radio host) and others in what they call the "wingnut" media (extremely right wing people on TV) are the ones that are pushing for him to do this.

Can you really unconcede a race after you say you lost?  It's been 3 weeks and the guy he lost to is already in Washington voting on healthcare and other issues!
